FOUGARO ARTCENTER in collaboration with the Greek National Opera welcomes a much-loved workshop for ballet and dance play to live music!

"Dad, shall we dance?" is an invitation for fathers and their 4 to 8-year-old children to some highly entertaining dancing full of tenderness and… ballet moves.

Daddies and their kids will attend a class of classical dance and dancing play! They shall explore their skills and enhance their relationship through kinetic activities, improvisation and games. Above all, they shall have fun dancing against stereotypes!

Dads, this is an invitation to dance you cannot refuse!

Tassos Karachalios

Born in Athens, he graduated with distinction from the National School of Dance in Athens and the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the University of Thessaly. In 2005, on a grant from the Alexander Onassis Foundation, he attended the danceweb programme of the ImPulsTanz festival in Vienna. As a dancer and actor he has collaborated with Dimitris Karantzas, Michael Marmarinos, Constantinos Rigos (Octana dance theatre), Yannis Skourletis (bijoux de kant), Angeliki Stellatou, Jan Fabre, Lenia Zafiropoulou, Dimitris Papaioannou, Apostolia Papadamaki (Quasistellar), Antonis Foniadakis, Yorgos Sachinis, Stavros Tsakiris, Maria Gorgia, Ioanna Portolou (Griffon), Persa Stamatopoulou, Markella Manoliadi, Costas Tsioukas, and others. As theatrical choreographer has worked with D. Karantzas, Μ. Marmarinos, Th. Papakonstantinou, Y. Skourletis, O. Papaspiliopoulos, etc. As cinema actor he worked with David Cronenberg on the remake of Crimes of the future. Since 2008 he teaches kinetics and improvisation to dancers and actors.

Costas Yaxoglou

Born in Sparta in 1975, he studied theatrology at the University of Athens and translation at the British Council while being active in theatre troupes and music bands from 1996 to 2002. He started with classical piano at the Sparta branch of the  Hellenic Conservatory, and continued with classical piano and classical song at the Municipal Conservatory of Zografou.

He went into jazz in 1997, when he met Yorgos Kontrafouris and Sylvios Syrros. In 1997-1999 he joined the Savra ton vasilikon dromon soul rock group, and in 1998-2002 he played with the Apurimac latin group . From 2004 to 2008 he did a Bachelor in Jazz Piano Performance at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. While in the Netherlands he joined various jazz, latin and pop bands and worked in music education (Amsterdamse Theater Academie-Nieuwe Stijl). Since 2008  he has been active in Athens as a jazz musician, with various pursuits on the concert and discography scene.

In 2022 he completed the postgraduate programme "Music Technology & Contemporary Practices" of the Dept of Music Studies of the University of Athens, majoring in Jazz Improvisation & New Technologies.

Since 2009 he works as piano teacher and band coach in public and private education, and since 2023 he teaches music at the 1st Model High School of Ilion. He has participated as music director and performer for major stage productions by eminent directors (Κ. Rigos, Y. Kakleas, L. Lazopoulos, etc.). He is a founding member of the Impro Jazz Workshop which organises summer jazz workshops, most recently at Vamvakou in 2023. He has taken part as musician in various educational programmes and shows for children—indicatively: 2013 "Where is the Giraffe", Kinitras Group/  Sania Strimbakou; May 2018 & May 2019 Onassis Stegi: two different musical performance projects produced by composer Dimosthenis Grivas at the Big Bang Festival; 4 - 2018 Viewmaster Orchestra and Big Bang Festival; 5 2019 The Cooking Orchestra. Collaboration with dance educator Sania Strimbakou on staging projects at the Onassis Stegi and the Athens Concert Hall (2012-2023). In January 2023 he worked with choreographer Vittoria Kotsalou and cellist Alexis Bove on the :AKOY" educational programme.

He has also worked as accompanying pianist in dance classes at the Kalamata Municipal School of Dance (2004, 2010), the Fix Dance Studio (2008), the School of Dance of the Greek National Opera (2012-13) and the Morianova-Trasta Professional School of Dance (2012-13). In 2021 he took part in The Seed, the debut album of Thomas Mitroussis, and in the jazz album Context of Yannis Papanastasiou. Founding member, with Nikos Sidirokastritis and Chrysostomos Boukalis, of the B.Y.S. Trio, which is inspired by the music and the aesthetic of Charlie Haden and others. The trio recorded its first album, It's about spirituality - A tribute to Charlie Haden, at the Polyphoniki Studio, and presented the project at the 2019 Syros Festival, Jazz in the Park, Jazz Festival Jazzet 2024, Theatro Petras.
