kindergartens | nursery schools | primary & secondary schools | parents’ associations

programme
“The mulberry trees of Morias… in Fougaro’s Plaza”
trees, mulberries, nature games, environment, ecology, fairy tales, dramatisation
Fun and learning out in the open, by a row of mulberry trees at Fougaro’s plaza. As the seasons succeed one another we observe the trees and their surroundings —fallen leaves, bare branches, new tender foliage in the spring— and we learn by playing in the yard!
Why was the Peloponnese also called Morias? What is sericulture, and how do you think humans discovered silk? How did silk get to Europe? The children engage in theatrical improvisations around these subjects, while others produce art with the gifts of nature around them: leaves, twigs, earth…
As you go, don’t forget to collect your young tree! You’ll need to plant it in your schoolyard and take care of it!
* The programme takes place in outdoor/semi-outdoor areas, so you must see to it that the children are suitably dressed for the time of year. There is no bad weather… there is unseasonal dressing!
Duration 75΄
Recommended and adapted for nursery school, primary school and junior high school classes.
On the occasion of the now women project
or the exhibition homeland landscapes
“The dragon’s nail”
artworks, playing, history-middle ages, dragons, knights, theatrical play, fairy tale, ecology, origami-making
A guided tour and acquaintance with artworks in the context of the “NOW WOMEN” project at FOUGARO. The children participate in games based on aesthetic and intellectual stimuli. A sculpture-toy, the “carousel” by Florentia Oikonomidou, and a painting by Clara Glauert with references to medieval manuscripts, take us on a journey into the dark times of dragons and duels and into a fairy tale about Azdar, the dragon on the centre of Earth…
In addition to the proposed origami making, the children practise their fine mobility skills and enjoy a theatrical object—the dragon’s nail!
Duration 75'
Recommended for nursery- and primary-school children.
“Traces and Imprints”
The students will locate the work a major Greek printmaker, Dimitra Siaterli, in the LIBRARY. This is a chance to experiment with a great branch of visual art: printmaking!
We shall deal with the drawing and the composition of the subject we wish to depict, and how we can render it using this specific technique.
Making use of the many possibilities afforded by this form of expression, we shall create prints with the monotype technique and arrive at a special and unique outcome.
The children develop their skills in drawing and using tools and promote a spirit of collaboration through a pleasant and creative process.
Duration 75΄ - 90'
Recommended and adapted for nursery school, primary school and high school classes.
Carnival 2025 @ FOUGARO ARTCENTER
Paper airplane workshop
Among the flying toys of the old days, we have selected to share with you an entertaining paper airplane with two bridles that flies softly and is a coveted traditional toy for children!
An opportunity for children to get to know the traditions of old, express themselves through artistic media and play with the wind, exploring the rules of Physics!
Using simple materials (paper and thread) we make our paper airplane step by step and then we all run outside to welcome the spring air… now in the courtyards of Fougaro, just like children used to do in wasteland areas!
At the end of the educational action and as a game for letting off steam, we join the carnival dance around a colourful, festive gaitanaki!
Mask making workshop
The dance of Apis Mellifera
information on bees, experiential game, team game, art workshop-mask making
For this year's carnival we invite you to join us in building a beehive! We shall all work together, learn about this important insect and its special dance, play traditional kinetic games on the subject of bees as a group and make cardboard masks using the technique of symmetry and the mechanical properties of paper and the logic of open-ended construction which encourages the children's imagination and creativity. A fun and educational pursuit which transforms the children into hardworking insects ready to buzz in a festive carnival spirit.
At the end of the educational action and as a game for letting off steam, we put on the masks we've made and join the carnival dance around a colourful, festive gaitanaki!
Duration 75'
The two educational programmes above are recommended and adapted for nursery school, primary school and junior high school classes.
