Book presentation Nikos Vatopoulos
The Anthos Library of Fougaro and Metaixmio Press invite you to the presentation of the latest book by Nikos Vatopoulos, "A child grows up in Athens: 1934-1944".
Aided by the screening of digital material, Nikos Vatopoulos will unfold a twin narrative across time over a backdrop of Athens during the German Occupation and the landscape of a childhood and teenage years at the time.
The author will answer the audience’s questions and sign copies of the book.

Nikos Vatopoulos
Nikos Vatopoulos was born in Athens in 1960. Since 1988 he works with Kathimerini in the newspaper’s cultural section. He is specialised in the history of Athens and in matters of urban culture. His research interests including the photographic documentation of Greece, the history of urban centres, 19th- and 20th-century architecture, the history of periodicals and the exploits of the pioneers of photography. Special research areas are the non-registered micro-history and the ‘unofficial’ city. He has participated as photographer in art exhibitions and organised the project ‘Athens in the ‘60s’ (Hellenic-American Union, 2014). He has contributed to the collective works: ‘D A Harissiadis Photo Agency‘ (Benaki Museum, 2009), ‘Yorgos Zongolopoulos’ (B&E Goulandris Foundation, 2016) and ‘18 texts on Yannis Maris’ (Patakis, 2016).
