Blues Wire Acoustic
For this year's blues night, which has become an institution these last ten years, FOUGARO ARTCENTER welcomes Blues Wire for a unique acoustic LIVE with free admission on Saturday 14 December at 10 pm. After their dynamic presence at the Fougaro Music & Wine Festival in September, these most famous and historic figures of the country's blues scene are coming back to Nafplio from Thessaloniki with an acoustic sound this time.
Blues Wire Acoustic—Elias Zaikos (guitar, vocals) and Sotiris Zissis (bass)—are the two musicians who started Blues Wire forty years ago. The new scheme is the latest expression of their musical quests. Their profound knowledge and experience showcase blues, country, ballads and original songs in an eclectic mix whose soulfulness and authenticity combines the fervour of true lovers with the experience of accomplished musicians.
Blues Wire
A unique example for this country, Blues Wire have been described as a top band of its kind, in Greece as well as in Europe. They were formed in 1983 by Elias Zaikos and Sotiris Zissis as the Blues Gang, the title under which they played their early gigs and recorded three albums, among which the first-ever blues record in Greek discography. In 1986 they changed their name into Blues Wire.
Their track record includes over ten albums, countless concerts in Greece and abroad and a host of collaborations with some top names of the genre. Since then they continue with admirable devotion and consistency their course along and across the blues, adding personal touches to what is a readily recognisable and respected approach that has earned their colleagues' acceptance and appreciation.
