Love a book!

THE LIBRARY | 15 years of creative life!

It all started from a donation of books, thirty years back. A storehouse in Aria was filled with 3,000 tomes and many magazines on art, literature, man and nature.

The idea of setting up a Library dedicated to human thought, works and arts was born right there in 1997.

Many more donations followed and the collections of books, magazines and audiovisual material grew. Today, thirty years after its modest beginning, our LIBRARY is the lesser-known but precious treasure of FOUGARO!

For fifteen years now it offers open access to knowledge and culture, providing services of education, information and entertainment to the local community, to parents' and teachers' associations and to schools of all levels.

This is a LIBRARY for the ARTS & HUMANITIES, with 30,000 tomes of books in Greek, English, French and German. It also includes 150 titles of magazines, newspapers and publications as well as books in Italian, Russian and Spanish!

It is the sole LIBRARY for the ARTS & HUMANITIES in the Prefecture of Argolis.

A reading space popular with students and avid readers, the LIBRARY is staffed by a team of associates who run a variety of educational programmes for children & adults, 65+ individuals, schools and societies for the disabled. Its hospitable facilities, where the books coexist with artworks from the FKPCOLLECTION, are also used for regular training seminars, book presentations and reading evenings.

As of 2012 the LIBRARY has developed a broad network of collaborations with local cultural organisations, museums, galleries, vocational schools and universities. In this context it has organised a series of internships for students from Greek and foreign universities which include the University of Barcelona, the Ionian University and Harvard.

Finally, among the various popular activities of the LIBRARY we should note the screening nights and the tributes to Greek documentary films.
