"Hail Arcadia" by Filippos Koutsaftis
On Sunday 19 May 2024 at 7.30 pm, FOUGARO ARTCENTER welcomes Filippos Koutsaftis for a screening of his awarded film "Hail Arcadia".
The documentary film Hail Arcadia is a journey through the past and present of Arcadia, a land so charged with myths and allusions that it seems to exist on a plane not entirely within contemporary reality; a land with its own special place in time and space, and in the minds of countless people across the centuries who dreamed of its ideal aura, of everything that Arcadia stands for.
The documentary was awarded the FIPRESCI prize for best Greek production by the International Federation of Film Critics at the 17th Documentary Festival of Thessaloniki in 2015.

Filippos Koutsaftis
Born in Zagora, Volos on 1950, he studied mechanical engineering and then filmmaking in Athens. He has worked as director of photography for a large number of films for cinema and television.
He has also been active as lighting designer for theatrical, musical and dance productions. He has produced and directed the following documentary films with a focus on the questions of space, time, memory and history.
