a few words about the talk

Reading Place: Unfolding Layers Through Artistic Enquiry

Trevor Borg’s artistic practice engages with place as a dynamic and multilayered construct, shaped by time, history, and perception. In Reading Place: Unfolding Layers Through Artistic Inquiry, he explores how art can function as a mode of exploration, uncovering the hidden narratives, histories, and ecologies of place, and at the same time creating new ones. Through processes of walking, collecting, and reinterpreting, Borg approaches place as both material and concept, allowing its qualities and resonances to inform his artistic interventions. This talk examines how layered meanings emerge through artistic engagement with place, questioning how place is experienced, represented, and contested. By treating place as something to be read and rewritten, Borg’s work interrogates the intersections between the tangible and the ephemeral, presence and absence, and personal encounters and collective history.
