Το Φουγάρο διοργανώνει για τρίτη συνεχόμενη χρονιά το Fougaro Jazz Festival και υποδέχεται το Σάββατο 3 και την Κυριακή 4 Οκτωβρίου τέσσερα ξεχωριστά σχήματα από την εγχώρια σκηνή.

Οι μουσικοί θα παρουσιάσουν προσωπικές συνθέσεις καθώς και αγαπημένα Jazz standards. Ειδικά όμως την 2η μέρα, θα γιορτάσουμε το είδος της Jazz που απέκτησε αυτονομία και αναγνωρίσιμο στυλ το 1935 στην Αμερική, το SWING, που σημαίνει κουνιέμαι. Το συγκεκριμένο είδος μουσικής είναι εύθυμο και ρυθμικό και συνδυάζεται με τον αντίστοιχο χορό. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWING!

DIMITRI VASSILAKIS TRIO

Dimitris Vassilakis (sax/vocals) and the top musicians Manos Saridakis (keyboard), Yorgos Kosteletos (drums)

Born in Athens in 1961, the sax player, composer and academic Dimitris Vassilakis enjoys an international career and has recorded 4 albums with London's historic Candid Records. He is a graduate of the London College of Music with a degree in classic saxophone on a British Council scholarship and holds a LRAM in Jazz teaching. Based in London and New York, he travels around the world and performs his music in festivals. He teaches at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki. For FJF#3 he is to present pieces from his awarded discography with Candid Records asd well as new material and favourite jazz standards.

KATERINA POLEMI

In FJF #3 she will be joined by the top musicians Dimitris Papadopoulos (trumpet and flugelhorn), Petros Varthakouris (double bass) and Dimitris Klonis (drums). Special guest: Massimo Dono from Southern Italy

Born in London to a Brazilian mother and Greek father, Katerina studied music at the Berklee College of Music in the USA, where she lived for 5 years. In 2011 she recorded her first album, and since then she has given concerts in Boston, New York, Brazil and Greece. In 2012 she had her first theatrical collaboration, composing the music for Euridice, directed by Dimitri Tarlow and receiving the top audience's award of Athinorama magazine. She has also written music for the plays Trojan War and Blasted, for the film Little England of Pantelis Voulgaris (nominated for the best music award of the Hellenic Film Academy, and for the play The Great Chimera, directed by Dimitri Tarlow, which runs for a second year at Poreia Theatre.

Manto Panagiotaki, Tatiana Michailidou, Myrta Sekallariou (vocals), Markos Papasifakis (el. guitar/orchestration), Yorgos Roulos (double bass), Dimitris kalonaros (drums)

Three women, three voices performing jazz standards of the great masters of the inter-war years and bringing new life to them in an authentic way. The soul of the ensemble is Markos Papasifakis with his inspired orchestrations. "Les Trois Femmes" spread a musical carpet and invite you on a journey back to the years of innocence as they join the celebrations for the eightieth birthday of Swing.

SUGAHSPANK! & THE SWING SHOES

Sugahspank! (vocals), Adonis Goulielmos (guitar), Yorgos Koutras (guitar, slide guitar, clarinet), Panos Tomaras (bass), Vangelis Kasvikis (drums), and Iakovos Krokos (harmonica)

Sugahspank! first appeared on the underground scene at the age of 14. In 2008, her album The incredible, the invisible caused a sensation. The Swing Shoes started in 2006 as a guitar duet, playing a mixture of Swing and traditional pieces in the streets. Their first album, Ladies and Gents… Here’s The Swing Shoes, has had very good reviews. Together, they have been giving concerts in Greece and abroad since 2009. This year's album A Holy Show was recorded live in one day at the Athens Concert Hall.
