THE CAVE CHILDREN

Vassilis Vlachakos (guitar, bass), Dimitris Stergiou (drums), Orestis Benekas (keyboard)

Formed two years back, the Athenian quartet counts among its influences the music of Danny Elfman, the Beatles of 1969, the sarcasm of Frank Zappa, England in the ’90s, Greek music and the new psychedelic rock scene. Dreamy psychedelic tunes, cinematic motifs and unprocessed garage rock come together to accompany their existential, sarcastic lyrics. All this is present in their first album, “Quasiland". The prexif quasi in the title is a comment on the conditions of political, social and professional uncertainty in which the project was completed. “Quasiland” is available as digital album, CD and vinyl with a bonus CD by Inner Ear. On 13/5/15 the band was added in the Buzz Playlist of Britain's ΝΜΕ.

Natasha Tsirou formed her first rock band at 14, wishing to be a drummer but ending up singing and palying the electric guitar. She studied classical piano and singing, eventually to opt for jazz... she won a scholarship for the Berklee College of Music but finally chose to attend the Conservatorium of Amsterdam, declaring she will be an actress when she grows up. ‘THE MIGHTY N’ is the pseudonym she uses to confuse herself and others, and ‘Songs for the X generation’ is the title she gave to the English-language record released by Sound of Everything in December 2013, which she signs as lyricist, musician, singer, composer, orchestrator and producer. It is a paradoxical yet compatible mix of alternative, progressive rock and jazz elements with influences from Nirvana, Faith no more, Jeff Buckley, Porcupine Tree, etc. She is currently working on her next record, which is scheduled for 2016.
