traces & imprints

with Dimitra Siaterli
printmaking workshop for 12+ teenagers & adults in the context of the now women project
Thursday 24 August 6:30 -9:30 pm

Every creature leaves a trace of its path. Artists leave the traces of their ideas on canvas, metal, wood, paper, etc.

Together with Dimitra Siaterli, the participants will attempt to create their own traces: imprints of an idea, traces of objects from their surroundings or even traces of their body. The process goes through the following simple steps:

Step 1:
Introduction to the concept of Printmaking; brief historical overview, the necessity of printmaking

Step 2:
Observing various objects in terms of their texture and their suitability for printmaking. Several objects furnished by me will be available to all, but participants are welcome to submit their own ideas of materials they will bring from home.

Step 3:
Presentation of materials suitable for engraving and materials suitable for printing.

Step 4:
Engraving (one hour devoted to a very simple design)

Step 5:
Preparation for printing and final print

Step 6:
Views and comments on the outcomes of printmaking and their place within art.
