Photography
In this annual seminar we approach photography not just as a technique but as an art which can reveal characters, emotions and narratives. Structured into cycles, the seminar is addressed to photographers with prior experience who wish to delve deeper into the theoretical and practical aspects of photography.
First cycle
Portrait photography
From November to January we shall focus on the art of portrait shooting, a dialogue between photographers and their subjects through the lens. We shall use a combination of analyses, technical knowhow and creative exercises to explore how the image can go beyond the obvious and the ordinary to reflect the photographer's personality and style.
Theoretical section: historical overview, lighting theory and techniques, rapport with the subject
Practical section: studio shooting, excursions & outdoor shots, image selection & processing under direct guidance
Second Cycle
Street Photography | The Poetry of Everyday Life
From March to April we explore street photography not only as a technique, but as a way of seeing the world. We learn to observe the flow of life in the city, to recognize moments that contain tension, humor, poetry, or human truth — and to transform them into images.
The city is a stage that never stops performing: people, glances, shadows, small stories that are born and disappear within a few seconds. Street photography is the art of recognizing them before they vanish.
Through the analysis of iconic photographs, discussion, and practical photography in the urban environment, participants will develop their own visual perspective and practice moving through the city as silent observers of everyday life.
Theoretical part: Analysis of the aesthetics and philosophy of street photography, presentation of iconic images and photographers, composition and storytelling techniques in the street.
Practical part: Photography in the city, selection and discussion of the participants’ photographs.
