Second Life

by Iliodora Margellos
sculptural approach workshop for teenagers 15+ & adults within the "now women" project
Friday 30 June 7-9pm

At first glance, Second Life means:

  • Fixing a broken / worn out item as a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections.
  • Healing through mending / transforming surfaces

The intention of this workshop is to elevate / add layers of meaning and symbolism to an everyday object by turning it into something more valuable through handmade intervention with the use of yarn, thread, beads a.o..

Objects / surfaces to “revive” could be, for example, a ping pong net, beach chair fabric, nets, strainer, sieve, rabbit wire, window net, tennis & badminton racket, pre-loved clothes with holes.

Another objective of this project is to become familiar with the term “Upcycling” as an effort to support a circular economy that raises sustainability awareness for future generations.
