Summer Reading & Creativity Campaign

The Summer Reading & Creativity Campaign is back for antother summer! For the ninth consecutive year, the FOUGARO ARTCENTER Libraries, in collaboration with FOUGARO’s volunteer network, are hosting a series of creative activities for children.

This year's theme, "Books: Windows Wide Open"—inspired by the well-known quote by the Greek poet Nikiforos Vrettakos— invites us to discover books in all their forms.

Together, we explore the book as an object and discover the journey of its creation. We travel back in time to when stories were shared through the art of oral storytelling, before finding their way onto the pages of books, which became storytellers in their own right. We discover unusual books, inspiring books, books that challenge our imagination and bring us together. We become books ourselves, visit the many homes of books, explore the world of libraries, and experiment with the many roles they play in our lives.

From Monday, June 15 to Friday, September 4, 2026, the libraries of the Greek Libraries Network (GLN) open their doors and invite us to dive into the world —and the very essence— of books.

This year, the National Library of Greece (NLG) collaborates with the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture (ELIVIP) as part of a broader partnership between the two institutions.

Throughout the summer, participating libraries coordinate activities across Greece, while readers of all ages share their reading experiences on social media using the hashtags #ΚΕ2025gr and #forEBEr.
