On the occasion of the now women exhibition, FOUGARO ARTCENTER invites 7 artists from the FKPCOLLECTION to a programme of interaction with the public through presentations, lectures and workshops.
Between June and August 2023, seven visual artists welcome teenage and adult visitors to the exhibition and share the tools for reading their work. New programmes are to be announced for September onwards.

Starting from the works in the exhibition, Emilia Tsekoura guides participants to create their own avatars inspired by nature, a cartoon figure or an animal, with the aim of getting to know themselves and the way they evolve.

The workshop aims to give new meaning to everyday objects by turning them into something precious. The participants get personally involved as they add new symbolism to objects from their surroundings and familiarize themselves with upcycling as an approach to sustainability.

The art of Stella Kapezanou stands out for its sarcastic critical look at contemporary human relationships. In addition to her paintings, she works on ceramic sculptures of a similar aesthetic. In this workshop, teenagers and adults make an attempt to depict the people around them on a readymade piece of pottery through the painterly outlook of Stella Kapezanou.

Participants will work together to create an art fanzine with pages made with collage using pictures they will bring with them, such as gaming figures, super heroes, actors or musicians. First they will rework the image with painting, cutting or text and then they will use special software to set up the pages and see the magazine emerge before their eyes.

For some people home means a refuge, a shell that protects the interior from the exterior. To Artemis Alkalai, the home is a key motif in her work—a restless canvas on which identity meets history and then ventures to advance towards the unknown. With her, the participants are called upon to appropriate the element of home, using their personal experiences to shape it in their own way.

Inspired by “Queen”, the lightbox by Yanna Karagianni on show at the Anthos Library, participants will draw and paint on Plexiglas their own composition using the vitrail technique, whereby the image ‘comes to life’ as light passes over its bright colours.

printmaking workshop for 12+ teenagers & adults

All creatures leave a trace of their course. Every body, and every object, register their shadow under the sunlight. Every shadow is a trace. Artists leave the traces of their ideas on canvas, metal, wood, paper and so on. Together with Dimitra Siaterli, participants will attempt to create their own traces — imprints of an idea, of objects from their surroundings or even of their bodies.
