Free Time & Play
Motion, play, running around the gardens and plazas of Fougaro
social interaction, development of kinetic and emotional skills, self-expression, contact with nature
In the gardens of Fougaro the school acquires a different pace full of play, energy and creativity!
We play ping pong, table football, we run and play tag among the trees. Play, free movement and carefree moments fill body and mind with energy and joy. And when the body needs a rest, the cosy corners of Fougaro's libraries are there for us filled with books, cushions, reading spots and some quiet exploring activities.
For we believe that the time spent playing is always time gained; it is a time of connection, expression and care afforded to ourselves and others!
We explore FOUGARO and the history of the site
industrial history, FOUGARO, treasure hunt, riddles
A game of exploration takes us from the past to the present! You are invited to a special guided tour of the only industrial complex in Argolis to have been designated as a listed building.
Through this experiential and sensory game of exploration we get to know the history and evolution of FOUGARO ARTCENTER: from the old "Anthos" industrial facility to its current form and transformation into a living hub of Art, Life and Culture.
* In 2004, in view of the industrial facility's historic importance, the new owners applied to have it designated as a listed building by the State. more
The mulberry trees of Morias
trees, nature games, environment, ecology, fairy tales, dramatisation
"The mulberry trees of Morias" represents fun and learning out in the open, by a row of mulberry trees at Fougaro’s plaza. As the seasons succeed one another we observe the trees and their surroundings —fallen leaves, bare branches, new tender foliage in the spring— and we learn by playing in the yard!
Why was the Peloponnese also called Morias? What is sericulture, and how do you think humans discovered silk? How did silk get to Europe? The children engage in theatrical improvisations around these subjects, while others produce art with the gifts of nature around them: leaves, twigs, earth…
As you go, don’t forget to collect your young tree! You’ll need to plant it in your schoolyard and take care of it!
* The programme takes place in outdoor/semi-outdoor areas, so you must see to it that the children are suitably dressed for the time of year. There is no bad weather… there is unseasonal clothing!
Duration 75΄
Recommended and adapted for nursery school, primary school and junior high school classes.
